Out of a small home studio in Burnaby, Maartje creates whimsical watercolours. The latest series features well accessorized birds.
Some of the birds, painted on 100% cotton paper, are mounted on wooden “canvases” and cold waxed.
Others are painted on handmade moulded cotton paper, matted and framed.
She loves the reaction the birds elicit when people suddenly realize they are wearing shoes and carrying handbags.
