Nan was born in Port Elizabeth in the Cape Province of Southern Africa.
Her first craft was sewing and knitting from a young age.
Once married she moved to Johannesburg where one day she saw a brightly glazed clay chicken in which to keep eggs made by a local potter and knew she wanted to make one too!
She joined classes and from there eventually opened her own studio where she gave lessons.
In 1990 she moved across the World to Canada where for 10 years her new life got in the way of her ceramics.
Eventually she found the time and joined the Parkgate Pottery Studio on the North Shore where she lived and produced ceramics for 17 years eventually moving to Burnaby.
Currently Nan works out of both the Port Moody Art Centre and Place Des Arts in Coquitlam making mostly functional pottery which she hopes others will enjoy using as much as she enjoys making them!
